Illumination

“My first memory is of light -- the brightness of light -- light all around.”

― Georgia O'Keeffe

Near Ellis Pond, Illumination!
Our crazy electric box
Today is the the day!
Lights! We now have power.
Finally had time to lay out some trinkets from my travels
Tiger Lilies from the Gorge
The Cherries are perfect. I came outside to eat some before the big storm!

Fruits of Labor II

The sun, with all those planets revolving around it and dependent on it, can still ripen a bunch of grapes as if it had nothing else in the universe to do.

~ Galileo Galilei

Fruits of Labor

“It is your work in life that is the ultimate seduction.”
― Picasso

Cherries in the yard!
One of the problems with getting the electric on
About to get up in the attic to run the main electric cable
Looking out the of the shady barn
Just pulled out the old mast
after taking the old meter out
new mounting surface for new meter
rock n roll
a lamp frame i am weaving out of old grape vines I found in the back yard.
wood work
a dogs life
A combination of all of our flasks, and a lighter.
Scrap wood from behind the barn with which to build
Lavender and Lilac hued tools
Next step, porch, barn, and greenhouse

Reifenden

“Men must endure
Their going hence, even as their coming hither.
Ripeness is all.”
― William Shakespeare, King Lear

Now that we have the new floor poured in the barn we can move all of Dave's tools in we can start working on the house even more! Yesterday, I chiseled all of the ugly tile out of the entry way and painted it. Slowly, we are making the marks of home upon our new space. Most days and evenings are spent laughing, listening to music, telling stories, working and brainstorming. Dave's stilted house/studio idea has developed into a tree house in the two Silver Maples out back behind the barn. There are talks of motorcycle revival and luxurious outdoor showers. I made a desk (future dining room table) out of part of an old barn door we removed. We are still hauling water in and borrowing the neighbors electric. Thanks to the couch that Dave found roadside, we now have a place to sit- but only two at a time. Otherwise, the choice of furniture ranges from a five gallon bucket to a cinder block or the ever reliable ground. It's rugged out here yet well worth the peace and freedom we have obtained. There has been much success in cooking with the camp stove yet the propane goes quick. Last night there was a hearty vegetable stew. The sound of crickets and rushing water rock us to sleep after a satisfying day.

Groundbreaking

“Sometimes since I've been in the garden I've looked up through the trees at the sky and I have had a strange feeling of being happy as if something was pushing and drawing in my chest and making me breathe fast. Magic is always pushing and drawing and making things out of nothing. Everything is made out of magic, leaves and trees, flowers and birds, badgers and foxes and squirrels and people. So it must be all around us. In this garden - in all the places.”
