Reifenden

“Men must endure
Their going hence, even as their coming hither.
Ripeness is all.”
― William Shakespeare, King Lear

Now that we have the new floor poured in the barn we can move all of Dave's tools in we can start working on the house even more! Yesterday, I chiseled all of the ugly tile out of the entry way and painted it. Slowly, we are making the marks of home upon our new space. Most days and evenings are spent laughing, listening to music, telling stories, working and brainstorming. Dave's stilted house/studio idea has developed into a tree house in the two Silver Maples out back behind the barn. There are talks of motorcycle revival and luxurious outdoor showers. I made a desk (future dining room table) out of part of an old barn door we removed. We are still hauling water in and borrowing the neighbors electric. Thanks to the couch that Dave found roadside, we now have a place to sit- but only two at a time. Otherwise, the choice of furniture ranges from a five gallon bucket to a cinder block or the ever reliable ground. It's rugged out here yet well worth the peace and freedom we have obtained. There has been much success in cooking with the camp stove yet the propane goes quick. Last night there was a hearty vegetable stew. The sound of crickets and rushing water rock us to sleep after a satisfying day.
